I suggest that two of the
aging theories provide overall
perspectives on which a SYSTEMS THEORY OF AGING could possibly be
built. These are:
These two framework
theories have four important properties:
They are elegant and
simple.
They explain how the other
theories of aging fit in and the underlying mechanisms that are associated with them.
They are
applicable across a wide variety of species, including mammals.
In fact, they themselves are
two compatible ways of looking at aging from contemporary molecular
biology and cell biology viewpoints.
